They are pretty different ( El Cinar near to the old Town and this one in the center of Habana) but both were very charming, very clean. We also had the occasion to stay in two different locations (which are situated 800m far one from another). We traveled in family with little kids and was our first trip in Cuba. It was perfect so we also booked our last day ( before to leave the country) and were proposed this second location. We booked Hotel Peregrino for 3 night at our arriving in La Habana in El Cinar. This is a beautiful hostal with great infrastructurre that was experiencing challenges (or not trying hard enough) to provide an acceptable breakfast.… Like day and night! Upon checking out, I was offered the house taxi at 12 USD to take me to bus station, but opted to walk the block to Prado where I easily flagged a yellow "official" taxi for the standard fare of $10 USD. Highly recommend El Pirate cafe on Calle San Ignacio in Havana Vieja, a short walk away, where I enjoyed excellent full breakfast of toast, butter, jam, 2 hardboiled eggs (my request), beet and greens salad garnished with carrot, fresh 3-fruit plate, slice each of cheese and very good ham, fruit juice for $3.90 USD. By far the worst breakfast I've ever been served in 8 visits to Cuba! I decided for 3rd morning to forgo the breakfast (included in price and already paid) for and ate out. Quality of breakfast did not match quality of accommodations. Discussed twice with proprietor, no resolution. * Due to shortages, despite common use of black market and ability of other casa operators to provide all breakfast components, breakfast lacked milk for coffee, whole eggs (unpalatable powdered egg omelet was served) and, (it seemed) the coffee was government issue ie cut with chicory. Staff Saili and Alex especially obliging. Room beautifully appointed, was given a triple as the double I'd reserved was occupied. Very happy with location, as a mature female travelling alone, 1 block from Prado.
